SHARE THE LOVE

January 7th, 2013

Spread the Cheer this time of year!

1 in 7 U.S. households don’t know where their next meal is coming from. (Shocking, right?)

You can do something about this…
“Share the Love” is back! Leaving the Holiday Season of giving to those you love and those less fortunate does not need to stop. Together we can SPREAD THE CHEER THIS TIME OF YEAR!
Giving makes us all feel good, and the 2012 “Share the Love” program was a large success filling the shopping cart with non-perishable foods for the Laconia Area Food Pantry. With the winter season upon us, and the fresh load of snow dropped right after Christmas reminds us that it is important to keep our local community healthy through the season.

• When most people think about hunger, they think of a starving child in a third-world country. Or perhaps they think of a long line of homeless people waiting outside an inner-city soup kitchen.
• The truth is that hunger in United States is a huge problem. In a country known for its wealth and prosperity, 50 million Americans struggle to find their next meal.
• Did you know 17 million children go to bed hungry every night?
• The face of hunger has changed. No longer is it just the homeless man on the street reaching out for a helping hand, but millions of everyday people struggling to feed their families. No one is a stranger to the economic hardships of today.

Dr. Kennell and the Kennell Ortho Team are once again kicking off a non-perishable food drive program, when you bring in a non-perishable food item; you will be entered in the 2013 “Share the Love” prize drawing. 4 lucky winners will be announced on Wednesday March 27th!

Share this post with your Kennell Ortho friends and family so together we can SPREAD THE CHEER THIS TIME OF YEAR!.

Do germs really live on my toothbrush?

January 3rd, 2013

The dreaded cold and flu season is here again! After recovering from your cold, one of the most important steps you can take to avoid becoming reinfected is replacing your toothbrush!

Germs can linger on the bristles, and you risk prolonging your sickness by continuing to use the same toothbrush. Be smart – keep a spare, just in case! To protect your toothbrush from bacteria all year long, consider the following tips:

• Wash your hands before and after brushing
• Allow the brush to air dry after each use, harmful bacteria dies after being exposed to oxygen
• Store the toothbrush in an upright position to allow water to drain and dry faster
• Replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months. Worn bristles are less effective in properly cleaning your teeth, and can actually be damaging to teeth if used too long!

Hope this tip helps! Feel free to give us a call or ask us on Facebook if you have any questions!
